Lunar July

Synopsis

The newly appointed committee of the village temple takes charge of organizing the annual Hungry Ghost Festival (Yu Lan Celebration), specially inviting an urban rock band to perform on the seventh-month Getai stage. However, the band members dismiss spiritual folklore and openly disrespect the deities during their performance, angering Tai Su Yeh (Da Shi Ye, The King of Hell), the guardian of order between the living and the dead. As Tai Su Yeh leaves in fury, the cosmic balance collapses, unleashing hordes of spirits into the realm of the living. A barrage of bizarre occurrences plunges the band into an inexplicable nightmare, turning what was supposed to be a lively celebration into a heart-stopping supernatural catastrophe.
